Common quality problems and causes of laminated glass

Due to production, installation and construction reasons, laminated glass often loses film, spots or pinholes, scratches or abrasions, cracks and other phenomena during use. The causes of these phenomena are multifaceted, whether it is sunlight control film or low-radiation coating, only by finding the cause of its formation can the occurrence of similar situations be effectively reduced.

The phenomenon of partial film loss or stripping on the surface of the laminated glass film. The main manifestations are local enhancement of light transmittance or complete shedding of the film layer. The release form is generally granular, clumps and flakes.

There are many reasons for film loss, which are mainly divided into the following aspects:

①productive aspects

Due to the coating process, some needle-like film loss, also known as needle eyes, may occur in production, which is unavoidable by the sputtering coating process itself.

②The storage of the original film

The laminated glass should be stored in a dry and ventilated environment. If it is stored in a humid and high temperature environment for a long time, the mildew and attached dirt on the surface of the glass will increase substantially, and the adhesion is very strong, and it is difficult to remove it during the cleaning process, which causes the binding force of the film layer and the substrate to be greatly reduced, resulting in stripping.

③Transportation

If the laminated glass is not moved out of the box or cut, any padding is not laid between the sheets as required or the bedding is not smooth enough, it will easily cause direct relative friction between the glass and the glass film surface and the film will fall off. This kind of film drop is generally dot-like or clumps, and traces of friction can be checked by hand or inspection equipment.

④Original film cutting aspects

In order to improve the cutting rate of glass, many original film manufacturers will inject a lot of kerosene into the cutting knife. These kerosene can easily remain on the original film, which is difficult to clean and causes stripping. Therefore, when purchasing original glass pieces, oil-free cutting should be required. If oil-free cutting is not possible, dilute hydrochloric acid or anionic detergent should also be used for pre-cleaning before formal cleaning.

⑤Cleaning brush cleaning aspects

After the cleaning brush is used for a period of time, some dirt will remain on it, including oil, flocs, confetti, and even bacteria. If it cannot be cleaned effectively, it will also cause pollution and cause peeling. Therefore, the brushes must be cleaned regularly with a steam cleaner, and if necessary, hydrogen peroxide can be used to clean them.
